My road to recovery from Lymphoma and Anemia
I was diagnosed with anemia and lymphoma years ago, but the actual treatment did not start until May 9, 2011. Having these two syndromes in my mortal body is not a joyful thing. The cause of these symptoms is due to low red blood cells decreasing the delivery of oxygen to every organ and tissue in my body. I have observed that anemia has caused a variety of signs and syndromes. My anemia has slowly progressed to being an ongoing chronic illness, and finally the anemia has developed into a more serious condition.
Syndromes of anemia that I experienced include the following:
fatigue
decreased energy
weakness
shortness of breath
lightheadedness
palpitations (feeling of the heart racing or beating irregularly)
looking pale
Another syndrome that I was diagnosed with is lymphoma. Lymphoma is the name for a group of blood cancers that start in the lymphoma system. The lymphatic system is part of the body’s immune system. The immune system usually defends against diseases and inflections, but fails. Lymphoma is the type of blood cancer that happens when the lymphocytes white blood cells failed to protect the immune system or behave abnormally.
It was not an easy life for me at the beginning because treatment did not start until I received blood transfusions to help to increase my blood counts. My blood counts were lower than normal. In normal circumstances, blood counts should be 100 or higher, but I only had 85, so the doctor ordered blood transfusions for me after the lymphoma treatment.
The road to lymphoma treatment does not finish until October. In fact, Doctor Lam will re-assess my condition monthly, but I am optimistic about my healing progress. I know I will get better every day. I know I have a mission to complete and God will not let me go that easy before my journey is done here.
Finally, with the help of Dr. Lam and Dr. Elchhorst, I believe that I am in good hands and on my way to recovery from these two horrific diseases.
