Human Desire
The modern world seems chaotic, including financial crises, battles within countries, struggles to maintain power, and poverty. It is like a ball rolling downhill that cannot be stopped until it reaches a dead end. However, there is no foreseeable destination. You may wonder if there are solutions for these difficulties.
We can overcome current problems by eliminating the disorder and reducing the chaos. What stops us from preventing the continuation of these crises and using our abilities to solve global problems, such as economic difficulties and conflict between countries?
The answer is one remarkably easy word – greed. It is easy to understand how this concept can cause many problems in the world today.
People have questioned the impact of human desire from the time of the Roman Empire to the present day. However, our lives are affected by more than greed. When combined with jealousy, greed becomes the most poisonous component of today's society.
Greed and jealousy have a long history and do not merely occur by accident. Thus, you may ask where jealousy originates. It results from a person's eagerness and desire. For example, when your desires have not been met, you may become jealous if you see that your neighbor has many things you do not have. However, someone with ample wealth who lives across the country will not bother you because you do not see him every day.
However, you may see your neighbor almost daily and that can make you wonder why you cannot have what he has. Your mind may lead you to think that you are more sensible than him, and so you should have more of everything. But, the question is can you afford to have what he has. Possibly you may not be able to afford to buy the objects that he has accumulated so far, because we are unique individuals. Everybody’s circumstances are different. So, with that said there is nothing to be jealous about. Greed and envy will only bring hatred which could subsequently cause many unhappy occurrences, like turning friends into enemies, conflict issues and the possibility of war between countries. These problems just keep growing, without any apparent solution.
We allow the dark force to control our minds and cause us to do negative things to others. We have forgotten our main purpose in life and the reason that God sent us here. We have discarded our original infinite state, which was filled with love and allowed the Ego mind to take control and dictate our lives. We do what this false self tells us to do. All we care for and are concerned about is ourselves and we view others as rivals and enemies. Hence, the Ego mind believes that we should eliminate our rivals in order to win this competition and destroy our enemies to take what they have and that we are anxious to receive. Our mind’s desires make things appear not to be right and view them as unjust. Our entire lives can change and many evil things can happen. We need to cast away all of the evil, negative thoughts and replace them with positive desires. We should never allow the Ego mind to take control of our lives.
We need to apply our great wisdom in an intelligent way and not act with a jealous and greedy mind. We need to successfully follow the Universal Laws of Nature, which allow things to be set before us that do not bring us harm.
Our wisdom and intelligence come from the consciousness of the Universal Source and do not live in the shadow of our Ego mind, which has no discipline. When the mind is out of control we find many horrible, thoughtless ways to attain whatever we want to accomplish, refusing to think about how our actions can harm others. The mind can even fabricate falsities so we can defeat our rivals. The more we act on negative thoughts, the more we distance ourselves from our original state of Infinite Being and separate from the Oneness Source, the purpose and meaning of our mission, and our destiny and cling to ambition.
There is nothing wrong with being ambitious, but do it in a positive way; humbly help others succeed instead of hurting others in your path to success. Your accomplishments will never be great if you harm others; by doing so, you will definitely see results, but you will gain a bad reputation.
Therefore, you should examine your actions before you perform them. Considering the consequences two or three times before you take action makes a huge difference.
This is also to remind you that every action you take could cause harm to others and that you should stop and practice self-control and mindfulness, to avoid any possible conflict arising from your reckless actions. When your life is run by your Ego mind, false belief and fear can rule and you only do what you have been told to do and nothing beyond that. The option for self-directed action is not existent for blind followers and the obedient. Therefore, practice moderation, flexibility and meekness when making pronouncements about how you want to do things.
The best possible answer to our problems is to practice virtue. When you get into the habit, each and every day, of giving something away or sending a prayer to bless this world for peace, you will achieve positive feelings of peaceful contentment attained both inside and outside. This is because internal and external circumstances must be balanced before you can know, or feel, the peace and tranquility within your soul. Your calmness and inner emotions and feelings will also indicate that you are aligned with the Oneness Source. Because you show joy and happiness on your face, people will know that you are happy.
Change the thoughts in your mind by moderating your Ego. Seeing yourself as a being who gives, rather than takes endlessly, and only lives on what is needed, you will begin to see that your purpose has moved to align with Source consciousness and not with Ego directives. When you acquire the only resource you need, you will collect virtue. This is the key to long-lasting success and the only vision that will stand in your life.
